FAR FROM THE TREE
Recommended again. The short film preceding "Encanto". Even with limited, modest colours, these big-eyed raccoons are Disney-style cute and the story captivates you with the strength of motherly love and teaches you how hard parenthood is.
ENCANTO
Recommended when seen again. A celebration of Colombian culture: colourful clothes, flowers, a loving family, a friendly community, mouth-watering food and riveting music. Add plenty of magic and superpowers, as well as lovely donkeys and fun rats. The story is touching and witty, e.g. "I'm not hungry!". The Oscar-nominated Atmos-recorded soundtrack makes you want to dance. The title of one of the two main songs "Colombia, mi encanto" reveals the house falling apart, in need of uniting is in fact Colombia.
I'm quite sure that what detracted from my experience the first time was too small a screen at KinoGram. Cinema City is much better.
