DYRID (LAMB)

Recommended. Based on an original concept. The story develops slowly but steadily. First it's weird, then gently beautiful, the chilling finale is a quiet horror. No screams, even a sense of justice but it's not what you hope for. The three lead actors are spot on in conveying the emotions of the film. It's also finally an Icelandic production which makes use of the landscapes - the plot is set in the interior and the vistas magnify desolation. The film explores our ambivalent relationship with animals. Both the tale and the means of expression are simple yet powerful in the end.

Reviewed from the distributor's screener, cinematic reception might differ.
