EL BUEN PATRON (THE GOOD BOSS)

Recommended. The Spanish Oscar candidate follows in the footsteps of "기생충"("Parasite") in terms of tackling the predicament of the lower class and the integrity of company managers. The story's presented from the boss's point of view. One using smoke and mirrors expertly. A plot full of twists will keep you interested in this tricky tale. How many weights need to be placed on a scale to achieve the equilibrium? Heisenberg's principle, often mentioned by the boss, states there's a limit in the accuracy of predicting the momentum or position of a particle. Therefore what you expect to happen does not. Even Javier Bardem acts good-natured - a U-turn from his famous ruthless villain roles. The final scene is razor-sharp. His subordinate's ambiguous gesture is spot on.

SEANCE

Recommended. A supernatural slasher with some elite public school critique, great acting, an engaging plot and a superb twist of action explaining the killings. Entertaining and smart, e.g. when the girl is instructed to "hit him one more time" - clearly plays on the slasher kind recurring motif. Fluid genre-wise.

PLANETA SINGLI. 8 HISTORII

TEST

Recommended. Damn smart, each line is astute, the episode written by Błażej Dzikowski is hilarious, perfectly acted, with a great music choice. I'm smitten.

DETEKTOR

Recommended. An episode with a great twist of action, lots of humorous banter in the first half and a hilarious analysis of dating website behaviours in the second. Damn smart. Perfectly scripted and directed by Michał Chaciński. Masza Wągrocka and Antoni Królikowski excel in the leading roles, but also Konrad Eleryk is brilliant as the younger policeman.

Poor volume hindered watching. Even worse were disappearances of episodes on my account: once it was there, another time it was gone. Canal+ support didn't work at night when I needed it.
