WATCH DOCS FESTIVAL ONLINE

QUAND ON SAIT (ONCE YOU KNOW)

Recommended. My first conclusion: save Earth, don't give birth! On the other hand, in China, the one child policy has led from overpopulation to overconsumption. Well, we're doomed. If we don't act now, the temperature will rise by 5 degrees over just 100 years. That's if nothing changes. In fact, the global population rise will accelerate this further - imho. Adaptation, e.g. by moving from agriculture to fishing in Bangladesh, civil disobedience in the West, compensations for the poorer nations who suffer the effects the most while contribute to the global warming the least - these solutions are given. Well, we can have either economic growth or the world, not both. I was apprehensive about this film at first since French documentaries tend to be protracted and often pointless. This one diverts from the usual way the climate change issue is depicted, doesn't shy from mentioning overpopulation as one of the core issues, though it says this can't be helped. Pessimistic.

The film had very big subtitles which helped because the audio was very quiet. The main problem was that mojeekino.pl at evening peak time stuttered unbearably so the screening took 1/3 longer than the running time.
