WATCH DOCS FESTIVAL ONLINE

INFLUENCE

Recommended. The protagonists say mass psychology is easy. For them it clearly is since Bell Pottinger was the first company to transfer the rules of marketing into political campaigns. This socio political documentary thriller shocks you with how easy it is to steer human behaviour and dupe people into acting against their own interest. The rightist PR company  strategy was based on deepening division lines and they wouldn't have qualms about inciting riots, where those in South Africa almost led to a civil war. Asma al-Assad was nice, she caused outrageous atrocities but "was nice", Pinochet, oil companies - Bell Pottinger founder Tim Bell feared no evil and served all evil. He was a professional liar. Interesting what one of his colleagues said about his visit to the KGB - with the skills and knowledge of social psychology they have the West is 30 years behind. Tim Bell himself boasts of the millions he earned and remarks how illusive power is. One not to be missed.

Audible in English and with legible Polish subtitles. In the meantime mojeekino.pl advised me to restart the router if a film stutters. After restarting it twice and restarting the computer too, a few minutes in, not right away, it seems to have clicked in. I saw a bigger part of the film with no problems in spite of peak time.
