HAPPY END

Watchable. After "Amour" of 2012 I became apprehensive about Michael Haneke's films. It looked like he got slower with age. Well, "Happy End" is slightly faster fortunately, a little bit. It's composed of a few separate storylines which converge in the second half so for the first hour I was trying to get my head round the scattered events. It touches on contemporary issues as diverse as: recording everything with mobile phones, sick erotic needs forcing a person to lead a double life, refugees where their strength and determination is juxtaposed with their position in the society or dilapidation of the upper class where the son is unable to take over the family business. It's essential to watch it from the opening titles till the end. Only then does the story make full sinister sense.
