AUS DEM NICHTS (IN THE FADE)
Recommended. Directed by Fatih Akin - a German of Turkish descent, with Diane Kruger - an American citizen born in Germany and living on and off in Paris, 1 of 3 producers is Nurhan Şekerci-Porst - Şekerci coincidentally is the main protagonist's surname. Those dual nationality people have created an intimate story of losing your loved ones in a terror blast. The burnt wall structure creates a map of Europe with a smudge of blood smeared across which puts the individual situation in a wider context. Very realistic shots throughout the film. The ending shows all the woman's doubts and hesitations. While it was all gripping when I was watching, I only felt the full impact after leaving the cinema. It just reduced me to tears.
