ALPHA

Recommended. The Yash Raj Spy Universe expands. Tried and tested cinematic tropes are enhanced by a story which combines a spy flick with a family drama and adds a touch of sci-fi. Still, action dominates and it offers superb fight choreographies that glue you to the screen regardless of their length. Alia Bhatt and Sharvari excel both in Sita and Durga's martial arts skills and in dancing - it's true Bollywood with fun music and dancing in the film and in the mid-credit. The protagonists names indicate the futuristic story's rooted in Hindu mythology. Hrithik Roshan makes a cameo - trained audience will recognise his eyes straightaway. Best of all, the final act heralds Tiger, Pathaan and Kabir are going to unite and join in. Well, this flick certainly surpasses recent American superhero movies like the ones about He-Man and Supergirl - rarely do you watch long fights with such interest. Great fun. I'm looking forward to a sequel.
