WATCH DOCS ONLINE

NATURE IS MY HOMELAND

Recommended. I've seen plenty of nature documentaries and a number of environmental ones. But this one's different. The way of looking at nature at the micro and macro scale is like never before. Fellow deer kind-of worshiping a tree? Sated wolves next to grazing deer inducing no fear in those? Plants moving all the time? And the notion that nature is about to feed off ourselves.

كما اريد (AS I WANT)

Recommended. A frightening documentary about the scale of sexual violence in Egypt. Harassment is daily.

70/30

Watchable. Not enough nuts and bolts of the transformation from carbon to green. Too much blabber at the meetings. And too much of everything, it's simply too long.

You could choose the language of the subtitles on mojeekino.pl. They could be a bit bigger though, regardless of language.

AFRYKAMERA

MAKI'LA

Watchable. Kinshasa half-world. Two really good songs. The story's African in terms of children of the street and sorcery practice - no results of the latter to be seen. Simplistic ending.

NEPTUNE FROST

Watchable. The plot's a mess. Inspired by coltan mining, but lines make no sense, costumes look amateurish and theatrical. Only special effects are even attractive, e.g. levitating rocks or a pink sun. Most of the songs in this musical sound like copied and pasted, Western in that, only occasionally do you hear anything resembling Africa.
