HUDSON & REX SEASON 1 EPISODE 3

Watchable. While Rex's contrived poses and Hudson's verbally aggressive approach jar the episode just like before, this one has a story - complex yet solvable and plausible. The university setting, an undercover cop posing as a student, a misogynist professor make for fun viewing. And Rex gets decent cuddles.

EP. 4

Watchable. Finally some humour: "Don't you ever feed him?" "It's all I do." or a bestselling author who wrote "Say No To Potato" and gives a signed copy to Hudson. The plot about a petsitter reveals a number of quirky characters and an unlikely killer. Complex yet sensible plot. Fun. The dog is more natural finally. Now I'm into the series.

EP. 5

Recommended. Stories of glowing figures wandering among headstones - the cemetery is the starting point. While the episode gives you the creeps from time to time, it's all rational. There's some humour too: Rex tries to lick a donut to which an officer on guard reacts:"I know the feeling". The dog is superb, even John Reardon acts just fine for all the twists of the story, including spying on his colleague's daughter. The movie wonderfully highlights how times change in relation to gay people.

EP. 6

Recommended. Foodtrucks are popular in Poland too so the topic wouldn't be so alien if it weren't for the mention of the Mob. Apart from the crime plot, not entirely engaging, there's a romantic subplot as Charlie Hudson is targeted by his coffee server. Well, Rex doesn't like her hair cosmetic. A number of scenes are essential for Rex to do his part of the job. Just the story is mediocre and over the top. Regularly appearing characters are distinguishable but still just sketched which is a shame.

EP. 7

Recommended. Rex is watching "Kommisar Rex" ("Inspector Rex") - the original Austrian series. While Charlie Hudson nails down criminals, he uses some smart lines, e,g, commenting on someone's liking of crammed spaces: "You're going to like your prison cell" or responding to a criminal's "I just wanted a change in my life", he suggests she can expect that. But most of all the plot is complex enough and convincingly presents how shady the world of art can be. And the subplot of morning runs with a colleague is extra fun.

EP. 8

Watchable. Charlie's aunt helps in an investigation, it's a witty episode: "It's a police investigation. I can't bring you with me." and the next thing you see is her next to the policeman in his car. The main plot, though, skips around too much to be clear. But the ending with the aunt is fun.

EP. 9

Recommended. I love the fact each episode is totally different. This time the set is a virus lab where an intruder takes hostages to find his wife drug trial record. The dog has a big role to play. But most of all, the man evokes sympathy and the final twist is shattering.

EP. 10

Recommended. Rex is wonderful, whether he becomes a skating fan or comes to a rescue, the plot is complex, unpredictable.
